1898 The Lilies of The Valley Egg
Alexandra Feodorovna
Purchase price: 6,700 rubles.
The Egg, enameled in pink, rests on four legs of gold in the form of lily-of-the-valley leaves, applied with rose-cut diamonds and a single pearl at the foot. More leaves in green enamel enclose the body of the Egg, with flowers of pearl and small rose-cut diamonds scattered throughout the composition. The Egg is girded with crisscrossed bands of rose-cut diamonds and surmounted by an Imperial crown, richly decorated with rose-cut diamonds and two cabochon rubies. At the push of a diamond button mounted on one side the crown rises to reveal three small medallion miniatures, framed by rose-cut diamonds. Inside the frames are portraits of the Emperor Nicholas II and the two Royal children: Olga and Tatiana. On the back the medallions are engraved with the date “1898-5-IV.”
